The Promise features the family of Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar, and their children, Ishmael and Isaac.  The story tells of God’s promises to this particular family tree, including the wide, expanding promise to “bless all the families of the earth”.  Drawing from the Bible stories found in Genesis, and from Jewish, Christian and Muslim traditions, The Promise invites us to reimagine this family’s journey: into faith and doubt, famine and fruitfulness, thirst and lifegiving water, cries and laughter, oppression and freedom. Along the way, they are tested and broken. Can this family be restored and dwell together?  Their story encourages us to face our own brokenness, journey toward the promise, and seek God’s blessings for our global family tree, that all the families of the earth might live in reconciliation.
