The Promise calls for a small intergenerational cast playing the roles of Angel, Abraham, Sarah, Hagar, Ishmael and Isaac. It offers an exciting performance and educational opportunity for congregations, places of worship, interfaith settings, schools, and community theatres.

We offer two study options for your community to dive into The Promise. Whether you choose a one-hour presentation or a six-week course; you have the opportunity to dig into the story and learn and grow together no matter which option you choose.

Journey, Vs 1 (Abraham)

God comes to Abraham at night, tells him to go and promises to bless him with descendants as many as the stars, and to bless all the families of the earth. Abraham vows to go, trust God, and count the stars.

No One Hears Me (Hagar)

Hagar runs away from Sarah. Pregnant and alone, she finds a spring, but despairs over her situation, and laments the future for her and her child.

God Has Heard My Cry (Hagar)

God finds Hagar at the spring, makes promises to her, and tells her to name her expected child, Ishmael, “God Hears”. Amazed, Hagar claims God as the One who hears and sees her.

Covenant (Abraham)

God calls to Abraham and restates the promise. Abraham laughs, but then vows to count the stars, hold on to the promise, and walk with God.

Sarah's Lullaby (Sarah)

Sarah sings to her newborn baby, Isaac, whose name means “Laughter.” She rejoices in the blessing and the laughter God has brought her.

Study Options

Laura Presents:

Arrange for Laura to present a live, one-hour remote/online presentation designed for a group in your church, synagogue, or mosque. The presentation will introduce the major themes featured in The Promise: God’s covenant with Abraham, Sarah, Hagar, Ishmael, and Isaac and how it invites us to imagine a way for our global family of faiths to live in reconciliation and God’s blessing.

The presentation will include comments by Laura, musical selections from The Promise, and time for group discussion. Musical selections can be presented either as pre-recorded performances, or, if desired, musicians from the congregation can be invited to participate in live performances during the presentation.

Please note: Laura can present in-person in the metro-Atlanta area.
